About Toolkit 1 – getting started
First Steps to Reading Success
This toolkit is for anyone with no reading ability or who can read only a handful of words. When the toolkit is complete it will bring the reader to a reading age of approximately 7 years in just a few short weeks. The difference in ability and confidence will be noticeable in a couple of weeks when using the toolkit for just 10 minutes a day. And the good news is that it’s incredibly easy to use. Just follow these simple steps.
Readiness
Assess your child’s readiness to read with some simple shape-matching games.
Recognition
Using the word cards, you and your child get to know the basic 12-word vocabulary of the first reading book
Reading time!
Guide your child through the first book, as they apply the words they have learned in step two in a simple story.
Celebrate success
Your child has now earned their first sticker to reward their achievement and is ready to move onto the next book!
Progression
Each subsequent book gently introduces up to 11 new words, with continual practise of words already learned in a series of hand-illustrated story books. Reading Revival builds confidence quickly, and enables your child to feel real progress and achievement each day that you practise! Here’s a picture of the inside of one of the last books in the toolkit, so you can see the incredible progress that a child can make in such a short time.
